This 6-day great apes safari takes our guests to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the Gorilla Trek, and Kibale National Park for the Chimpanzee Trek. These two destinations give our guests the best of Africa’s Great Ape experience. Uganda has the highest concentration of great apes in Africa, hence giving the visitor an opportunity to briefly interact with them in their natural habitat. This safari starts with a visit to Kibale National Park to see the Chimpanzee and thereafter a drive through a scenic environment to the western tip of Uganda, where we have the gentle giants ready to interact with you.

Itinerary
You will be up early by 6:00am, and have breakfast. After breakfast you will be met by our driver/Guide who will brief you about the journey and the expectations of the day. This drive will be through the Fort Portal City for a brief Lunch break. After Lunch and some last minute shopping in Fort Portal, you will start on your journey to Kibale National Park. Destination Lodge is Turaco Treetops Lodge for your overnight stay.
After an early morning breakfast, you will meet you driver/Guide, who will drive you to the National Park’s headquarters for a briefing and guidance of how the tracking etiquette. The staff and game rangers of the National Park will do the briefing and explanation. The forest you are vising is not only home to the Chimpanzees, but also lots of fauna and flora. For the bird lovers, this is an important bird area. The National park staff will guide you to a particular chimpanzee family, and once a family has been located, you will have an hour to watch them. This is when you can take that photo and video, but remember everything photographic has to be without a flash. Thereafter you will be guided back to the headquarters, where you will meet your driver and driven back to the lodge for a rest.
Optional Activity: After Lunch, you might opt to visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary – an amazing sanctuary with lots of wildlife that is sustained by the swamp. This swamp is an amazing wonder located deep in the surrounding of the African tropical jungle. After the trek, you will return to your lodge for Dinner and overnight stay.
This is the day of transfer to Bwindi. You will have breakfast and check out of lodge. Our driver/guide will be ready to start on the 5-hour journey to the southwestern part of Uganda. This drive will see you go through the fringes of Queen Elizabeth National Park – the most popular national park in the country. Even though you will not access the park for a game drive, you might be able to catch a glimpse of the parks diurnal
After your breakfast, you will be transferred to the gorilla tracking information office for a pre-gorilla tracking briefing by the park warden and rangers. After briefing, the rangers will then lead you into the forest to track these gentle giants (Mountain gorillas). The thrill of spending time observing the gorillas as they interact with each other is a pleasing and unforgettable one, you are allowed an hour witnessing the interaction of these close relatives of ours. You are advised to carry with you packed lunch for the time spent tracking the gorillas varies from 3 to 8 hours. Time permitting; you may go for a late afternoon community walk to see the local people’s way of life and cultures.

The fifth day of this safari will be dedicated to rest and recouping and you prepare for your drive back home the next day. This day will be left for activities that are optional.

Last day of your safari. Breakfast and check out of your hotel, to start on your transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe to catch your flight. The drive back to the city will see you go through Mbarara City for a brief tour and lunch break at the Igongo Cultural Museum. The Equator point along this route will be one of those stopovers that offer lots of shops for crafts and souvenirs.
